Pendle Summit
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
A New Starting Point
After some very unpleasant weather during the day, the opportunity arose late on for an ascent of Pendle. For reasons that may become clear in the not-too-distant future, I chose to start the walk a little further down the road than the usual point.
Barley Fields
From the road, there is a footpath across two fields, leading to the lane which, in turn, leads to the steps ascent of Pendle.
Black Moss Reservoirs
This walk started at 15:03 and this is the half-way point on the steps.
The Stile
It's mighty cool up here, I'll save the word "cold" for next month. Earlier heavy showers have left their mark.
Pendle Summit
I hogged the summit! Nobody else about for the duration of my visit.
The Greeting
Walkers: Just Me
Time taken: 1hr 23 mins over a distance of about 3.5 miles.
Route: Parking on the roadside out of Barley, across a couple of fields, along the lane, up the steps, to the summit, back down the steps and back to the car.
Weather and conditions: Clearing skies and rather cool in a blustery wind.
Greetings Count: The gentleman above, who I passed on my way down. Nobody else at all.
Take me back to the start ....
